Welcome to the official website of the Opera Savonaroliana, also known as the Savonarola Project.

Our project is dedicated to the comprehensive study of Girolamo Savonarola’s life, preaching, writings, and doctrine, largely through the first-ever English translation of his opera omnia, which consists of over 25 volumes. This translation project will provide unprecedented access to his sermons, writings, and letters, with the aim of providing the faithful with the burning words of one of the most zealous preachers the Roman Catholic Church has ever produced as well as clarifying and rehabilitating his historical reputation.

The Friar’s opera omnia constitutes the central focus of this project and his work, or rather the Lord’s work accomplished through him, continues even now, more than five centuries after his Apostolic labors that led to his martyrdom in the Piazza della Signoria in Florence.

By making these primary sources accessible in English for the first time, we seek to inspire contemporary readers with Savonarola’s preaching, doctrine, asceticism, prophecies, contemplation, mysticism, reforms, and martyrdom. His was an exemplary life of virtue, sanctity, fidelity to the Roman Catholic Church and the Sovereign Pontiff and love of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Five centuries later, Father Girolamo's life and word still have the power to reinvigorate the spiritual and moral fiber of individuals and of society at large.

Our team has invested countless hours, energy, and attention to bring this initiative to fruition, adhering to the highest standards that Fra Girolamo himself would hold us to. We have experienced firsthand the unmistakable and irresistible power of this great Preacher and are excited to share it with you.
